Unicorn for Folk Toy, 1980Mirror, colored mirror, tile, beads, glass, plastic, painted wood
This logo, which hung above the entry to a well-known Austin toy store at 9th and Rio Grande for many years, had red eyes and 4 gradating colors of beads in its spiraling glass horn. | Kitchen table at Casa Neverlandia1993
Ferrocement, ceramic tile, clay chimney flue tile, brick and tile floor.
Built into a breakfast nook, this ferrocement table sits on a column that goes all the way down into the ground, and it serves as a support column for the reinforced concrete and brick floor of the kitchen. There are also matching counters and a yellow sink. The cross motif represents the 4 cardinal directions. The house is located at 305 W. Milton, in the SoCo district of south Austin. | Facade of Casa Neverlandia,1998-2002Ceramic tile, colored mirror, colored Plexiglas mirror, limestone, brick, glass, steel, wood, plaster
I decided to make our facade a billboard for my art. The front of our house was hidden by 3 1/3 stories worth of scaffolding for 4 years, so I never could see all the work at once until it came down. The house is located at 305 W. Milton, in the SoCo district of south Austin. |
