For my 3rd Austin Art in Public Places contract, I built a 4-piece entrance to Little Stacy Park and located it just across from the Larry Monroe Bridge, another Austin Landmark.  Materials include stained ferrocement, handmade ceramic letters (a big thanks to ceramist Lisa Orr), mirror, stained glass, and slate.  I named it Magic Portal and included. interactive elements such as crawl spaces, perches for various sized balls, metal grid and hooks for weaving and webmaking, slate for marking with chalk, and a central Throne for photo ops.  Embedded withing the 4 sculptures are mementos donated by neighbors who use the park.  The shapes were influenced by local windblown cedars and the colors & materials were suggested by Stef Distefano's surfacing techniques on the bridge.
